Evan Foster entered a Venice, CA studio to record his new
instro material, bringing in L.A. drum killer Dusty Watson
(Dick Dale, Concrete Blonde, Slacktone, Agent Orange) to lay
down the beat. Three days later, these two guys (who'd never
played together before) had recorded some of the most intense,
inspired instrumental rock & roll heard in a long, long time.
This was definitely one of those sweat-drenched, caffeine-fueled,
fight-the-clock studio sessions driven by pure, unadulterated
rock & roll passion! Also, Evan is joined by Martians' keyboard
wiz kid Nick C. on organ for those of you that need your soul-surfin'
Hammond and Vox organ fix.
Foster showcases his fantastic guitar playing and versatile
writing style on "Instrumentals," which is not only for fans of
instrumental surf & garage rock, but also for anyone seeking a
new, inventive approach to melody-centric instro rock 'n' roll.
"Instrumentals" spotlights an array of styles: Surf ("Glass
Packed And Fully Stacked," "Surfer's Anthem"), Garage-Punk
("Drag The Dragon"), Art-Punk ("A Familiar Unknown"), Sci-Fi
Synth-Punk ("I.D. Crisis"), moody Spaghetti Western ("Embrujada"),
primitive Proto-Punk ("Mouthbreather"), revved-up Mod-Soul ("Where
Do I Stand"), a gorgeous, haunting Soundtrack ballad ("Venice,
Late Night"), and several more sure to surprise, including the
