The Fathoms

The Fathoms
Known to many as one of the best trad surf/instro combos around.

Known to many as the best trad surf/instrumental band in the world, The Fathoms, take the 1960's surf sound and infuse it with beat, rockabilly, Latin and even a bit of ska. Coming from Boston, known more for its clam chowder than for "hangin' ten", The Fathoms are the brainchild of guitarist Frankie "Crankie" Blandino whose infectious guitar picking is simply marvelous with its wet-reverb tones and southern-fried twang. Blandino is joined by the rest of The Fathoms, a musical bunch of the highest caliber- Greg Burgess' damp Astronauts-style rhythm guitar, John Sciascia's thumping bass, Stan Kozlowski's "big beat" drums and rounding it up is the out of this world sax playing of Dave Sholl. Sholl's distinctive sleazy sax gives this surf band a layer of rhythm & blues that not only sets The Fathoms apart, but makes them the most authentic sounding band in the genre.
